About me
I was born in Karachi in 1969 and spent my early childhood in Australia before relocating to the UK in the late 1970s. Along with living in Andalusia, Spain for eleven years my work is deeply influenced by these experiences.
I returned to the UK to complete a PGCE in Art & Design in 2015.
Since 2022, I have focused on my own practice, working from my studio at Three Storeys in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire.
My literary works have also been recognized in various competitions. My short story “When Sleeping” was shortlisted in the Writers & Artists Short Story Competition in 2014. In 2015, my flash fiction entry “Maria’s Prayer” was shortlisted and performed at the Wandsworth Fringe Festival (Chalk the Sun Flash Fiction Competition), and in 2016, my short story “The Man with a Thousand Dresses” was included in “Gaucin Writers, A Collection of short stories.”
Alongside my own creative practice, I have worked at Tate Britain and for the renowned jeweller Elizabeth Gage in London.
In 1999, I moved to Glasgow where I established my own art classes and taught painting and drawing. I also organized residential art courses and worked as an independent arts officer for a mental health organization.
I graduated from University of Manchester in 1991.
